This the only ship to carry the name HMS Kandahar was a K
Class, destroyer. Built by Denny, laid down, Jan-1938, launched 21-Mar-1939, and commissioned 10-Oct-1939. On commissioning joined the Home Fleet. Then Apr-1940 went to the Mediterranean. Apr-1940 took part in evacuations from Greece, then May-1940, Crete. Jun-1940 in the Red Sea, while in company with HMS Kingston, sank the Italian submarine, Torricelli, with gunfire. Jun-1941 saw operations off Syria. Followed by Malta convoy escort. Dec-1941 while with Force K, struck a mine east of Tripoli, and sank the next day. Won the Battle Honours: East Indies 1940, Greece 1941, Crete 1941, Libya 1941, Mediterranean 1941 and Malta Convoys 1941.
