This the sixth ship to carry the name HMS Havock was an H
Class, destroyer. Built by Denny, laid down 15-May-1935, launched 07-Jul-1936, and commissioned 08-Jan-1937 On commissioning, joined the 2nd Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean, and was there at the start of WW2. Sent initially to the South Atlantic, then early 1940 to home waters. Took part in the Norwegian campaign, including the 1st Battle of Narvik. May-1940 it was back to the Mediterranean and mainly Fleet actions with Malta convoys, and the evacuation of Crete. In the 2nd Battle of Sirte, was damaged by near misses from 15" shells from the Italian battleship Littorio. Repaired at Malta, then 05-Apr-1941 sailed for Gibraltar, but ran aground 06-Apr-1941 at high speed near Kelibia on the Tunisian coast and was destroyed by her crew. Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1939, Narvik 1940, Norway 1940, Spada 1940, Mediterranean 1940-41, Matapan 1941, Greece 1941, Crete 1941, Libya 1941-42, Malta Convoys 1941-42 and Sirte 1942.
